HSBC considers clawing back bonuses from senior managers over money laundering

HSBC is reportedly considering whether it can claw back millions of pounds of bonuses in deferred compensation from former senior managers, including ex-CEO Michael Geoghegan and non-executive director Sandy Flockhart, who was head of HSBC’s Mexican arm from 2002 to 2007. The UK bank has already taken a US$700 million hit as a result of its failure to implement robust anti-money laundering controls at its Mexican and other subsidiaries.
